The Hand of Success

An assembly designed specifically for elementary school students

The Hand of Success was developed by Keith Ferrin, M.Ed., based on five elements of True Success:

  1. Make Wise Choices
  2. Do Your Best
  3. Use Words Wisely
    • Encouragement vs. Put-Downs
    • Effects of gossip
  4. Work Together
  5. Be Truthful
    • What we say
    • How we think about ourselves and others
    • How we live (integrity)

The Hand of Success is approximately 30 minutes long and is designed for grades K-6. Audience participation, illusion, and storytelling are all utilized throughout the assembly. PowerPoint slides are also used at schools equipped with projection capabilities.

In addition to the assembly, there are posters which cover the five elements of True Success. The posters incorporate concepts learned from the assembly into a graphic depiction of “The Five Fingers on the Hand of Success.” Each school that hosts a Hand of Success Assembly will receive enough posters for one in each classroom as well as a few extras to place in strategic locations around the school.
